1. The creation of a stargate has always been a big event in the history of a system and important even in the overall Terragen milieu. Even in systems like Fons Luminis where many termini have been made, the major local powers typically send representatives to attend the gate opening.
2. Many cultures name wormholes just like they name ships.
3. Planom Synerg becomes even more dramatic when compared to this huge structure - e is a portable Weylforge (or rather, a fleet of systems that can assemble into a Weylforge and disassemble to move to another system).

By connecting systems that were once separated by lags of years to decades for communication and by yet longer lags for travel, stargates may bring about a dramatic decrease in the diversity of local cultures as they are flooded by the inputs of all the other wormhole-linked systems. At the same time they enrich the overall complexity of a system and of Terragen culture as the new ideas and new sophonts generate novel new combinations when they encounter a system that has just received a stargate.
