This may seem odd and out of place, but maybe April Fools' Day is a good time to post this...I know, not every country acknowledges April Fools'.
This is a real quote. In an episode of the very silly Gilligan's Island, is some dialog which seems worth quoting.
Gilligan found an amulet which seems to grant wishes. Of course he wastes his three wishes, so he (pretends to) toss it into the shrubbery. (He actually kept it.) The others rush off to look for the amulet so they can have their three wishes. The professor was always skeptical of it, and Gilligan wants to know why the Professor wants to go look for it.
"It's completely unscientific, absolutely absurd, violates every rule of common sense, and is completely contrary to the rules of logic and intelligence! But just in case...!"
I think it's a good representation of scientists wanting to be open-minded and investigate every possibility. The only problem is the phrase, "rules of logic and intelligence." It of course was written by Hollywood scriptwriters on a tight deadline, but overall the quote works.
If you're wondering why they didn't use the amulet to wish themselves off the island, or how it fits into the Orionsarm Universe, I have some theories. I know, this silly TV show seems out of place here...
