The Orion's Arm Universe Project Forums

Greetings!

Hello,

I am a long-time reader of Orion's Arm - I think I originally ran across in almost a decade ago. I made an account to read the forum almost a year ago, then got distracted. Anyway, hey everyone! I love history and the study of it, my main focus is on the intersection of the esoteric, religion and culture. I like to understand how people viewed the world, encompassing even aspects of it that we understand are not real now, but which were very present forces in the psyche of persons past.

That's part of why I find OA so fascinating, since it encompasses this huge swathe of time, and the psychologies and understandings and perspectives are so wild and interesting. I also have a soft spot for transhumanism, so, this project has some obvious appeal for me.

Oh, also-also, I like to write for TTRPGs! It's one of the two big pillars of my interests and a major component of how I spend my time.
My avatar is from the Public Domain Archive. It's a picture of a Persian Demon!

Same! I really do like scenarios that encompass crazy amounts of time and a lot of events. That's also part of the appeal of Diaspora and Children of Time to me; time scales that would be unthinkable to us fragile humans are quite normal for these beings (Citizens and Kern respectively). It is almost easy to forget in Diaspora that the whole adventure takes... billions of years, and even the first half takes thousands of years.

I feel like any human who would actually had to experience all this time (even if they have company and novel experiences) might go nuts, or at least shift heavily in identity or maybe even have an identity crisis.

Anyways, welcome to OAUP! Smile
