EG Korean Translation & Korean Forums

Hi everyone,

Worldtree suggested I come by the forums, so here I am. I'm the developer behind korionsarm.com, the Korean translation of the EG.

I'm a graduate student in Korea and have been reading OA for a while. Interest in OA has been growing in Korea, so I decided to build a proper translation site rather than leaving things scattered across forums and PDFs.

Worldtree already shared the technical details from my Korean post in this thread, so I won't repeat everything. The site covers all 4,183 EG articles, each linking back to the original. The short version: automated pipeline, 9-stage Korean post-processing, and a customizable wordbook system for OA's terminology.

Right now the site is read-only — no login or user features yet. Once things stabilize, I plan to add accounts and a feedback system so the community can directly flag and improve translations. That should help with quality control over time.

Worldtree also mentioned help with hosting — I'd appreciate that if possible. The heavy processing (LLM translation, post-processing) runs on my own machine, so all I'd need is a stable server for serving the site itself. Happy to discuss the details.

한국에서 대학원 다니고 있고 OA를 꽤 오래 읽어왔습니다. 한국에서 OA에 대한 관심이 점점 커지고 있어서 여기저기 흩어진 포럼 글이나 PDF 대신 제대로 된 번역 사이트를 만들기로 했습니다.

Worldtree가 이 스레드에 제 한국어 게시글의 기술적 세부사항을 이미 공유해줘서 전부 반복하진 않겠습니다. 사이트는 EG 전체 4,183개 문서를 다루고 있고, 각 페이지에서 원문으로 링크됩니다. 짧게 요약하면: 자동화 파이프라인, 한국어 특화 9단계 후처리, OA 용어를 위한 커스터마이즈 가능한 단어장 시스템입니다.

현재는 읽기 전용이라 로그인이나 사용자 기능은 아직 없습니다. 안정화되면 계정 기능과 피드백 시스템을 추가해서 커뮤니티가 직접 번역을 신고하고 개선할 수 있게 할 계획입니다. 그렇게 되면 시간이 갈수록 품질 관리가 나아질 거라 보고 있습니다.

Worldtree가 호스팅 지원도 언급해줬는데, 가능하다면 감사하겠습니다. 무거운 처리(LLM 번역, 후처리)는 제 컴퓨터에서 돌리니까, 사이트 서빙용 안정적인 서버만 있으면 됩니다. 세부 사항은 언제든 논의할 수 있습니다.

Could you tell me a bit more about what you need hosted? Is it just static content, or is there dynamic code as well? Our hosting platform is primarily PHP based, so we're not really in a position to host things built in other languages (it is plausible the hosting company offers tools for this, but I haven't used them for anything other than PHP).

Also, could you clarify the motivation and level of need? I've looked at the existing version of the site and it looks like you have hosting all sorted. Is there any particular benefit you're trying to achieve by having us take over the hosting? I'm trying to think through an effort / benefit calculation here.

Hi Xorgnz, thanks for looking into this.
The site is static HTML/CSS/JS — no server-side runtime required. The translation pipeline (LLM calls, post-processing) runs locally on my machine and outputs finished HTML files. So all that's needed on the server side is serving static files. Any basic web host, CDN setup would work. No PHP or server-side language needed.
Honestly, my current hosting works fine for now. The main benefit I saw was long-term stability and official association — if the Korean site lives under the OA project's infrastructure, it's less dependent on one grad student continuing to pay for and maintain a personal server. But if the effort/benefit doesn't make sense on your end, I completely understand. It's not urgent, and I'm happy to keep self-hosting indefinitely.
