Hi all, just registered for the OA forums. I've been interested in the Orion's Arm universe since discovering some months ago, and doing a lot of wiki walking through the Encyclopedia Galactica. The setting definitely appeals to me due to how distinct it is from most sci-fi settings. If work/school allows, in the future I'd hope to even contribute a minor piece or two to this shared cosmos. Of course I'd appreciate and look for guidance on how best to do that.
For my part, I'm a 23 year old graduate student in cellular biology, so topics like the ecologies of terraformed planets or even the spread and natural selection of infectious diseases across interstellar space and time are interesting. Of course, the social evolutions that Terragen civilization has gone through in 10,000 years are also fascinating.

Welcome to the forums!
feel free to dive right in. There’s no rush to produce articles (OA is 20 years old nearly so we’re not going anywhere). Just feel free to join in with any questions, comments or ideas you might have.
My background is also biology, though I specialised my career into a bit of a jack of all trades biomedical field. It’s always great to have more people with bio backgrounds
Also if you are a discord user feel free to join us there for more casual chat and socialising

Thanks! I think outside the previously mentioned topics, it might be interesting to have one or two examples of law enforcement/justice/sentencing in societies with ultra and transapient tech. Obviously different groups will come to different solutions.

Hello, and don't forget to join the Discord. It's great for asking setting questions.
My lifelong goal: To add "near" to my "baseline" classification.
Lucid dreaming: Because who says baseline computronium can't run virches?
