Broken links
#1
Is this the right place to list broken links?  I tried all the links on your worldbuilders links page, and a few were broken.

This one doesn't seem to load at all; I'm using Windows 10 and Google Chrome.
Gravity Calculator for Astronomical Bodies Based on Radius and Density - An online calculator that allows you to calculate gravity. Remember that materials become compressed in the centre of planets, so large planets are denser than small ones made of the same materials (see Valencia et. al. below).

This one looks like a German news page.
Rassilon's ssc generator A generator that works with Celestia to create realistic systems; it uses John M Dollan's
Planet Classification list, too.

This page isn't found at all.
Snaiad An excellent fictional ecology on a very alien world; and the artwork is phenomenal Also see the wiki, here.(SB)

This does work, but you say it requires Firefox, but it seems to work with Google Chrome.
Instant Planet Generator - Requires Firefox.

Page not found.  But the rest of her site seems to be active.
The Five foundations of Worldbuilding - Things to ask yourself while creating worlds.

That's all about that.

Thanks for testing!

I just now tested the links using Firefox:

Loads & works for me using several Firefox variants, including:
Firefox ESR 52.9.0 (64bit)  under Win7.
SeaMonkey v 2.49.3 under Win7 but it complains "Insecure information on this page was blocked."
Waterfox v 55.2.2 (64bit) under Win7.

A backup of the original page is available on Archive.org at

The backup page seems to work OK with Firefox ESR 52.9.0 (64bit)  under Win7.

I'll update these in the next day or so. I'll add some more up-to-date ones too (although I would like to keep the old ones- thanks, Selden!)
Any suggestions? We had a list of worldbuilding links posted here a few months ago; I'd like to include those as well.

I've updated all the broken links (note- some of the archived pages take a little while to upload)
I've also added some more links, including links from Vaktus (thanks!) and a few of Anders Sandberg's worldbuilding articles.
Some more calculators would be nice.

I've found this calculator quite useful. It doesn't seem to be in the list, although I might have overlooked it.
I.e. given the number of links, it'd be nice if the resource list were organized differently, perhaps by subject matter for those links to pages which are not themselves lists of links.

Agreed, the links pages need a bit of a remodel.

With that in mind, I'm going to suggest that we add this to the list on the thread about remodeling the EG (true, this isn't directly a part of the EG, but it falls under the same general umbrella of changing how we present information).

I'm planning to start diving into the 'punch list' on that thread as soon as the Sol System in Y11k article is finished - hopefully in the near future.

Will add this to the Remodeling the EG thread next and suggest that additional links or ideas on how to restructure the page be posted there.

Thanks!

Todd
