We did have some explicit predictions for computing speed and power in the timeline, that were made in about 2000 and were beginning to look increasingly random. Computing power has continued to increase over the last 17 years, but the increase in the versatility of programs, networks and applications is far more significant.

I don't know about the rest of you, but my data storage needs are increasing by about 1 TB every year. I could easily find use for a 40 TB harddrive.
