Provolution is also an existential risk, in that Terragens have long created species that are in competition with the human-derived species, one that is even more pronounced than the RL threat posed by AGI. The existence of those provolved beings implies either that provolves are strictly controlled to ensure they cannot become an existential threat, or that the human-derived Terragens are so unconcerned they not only accept that risk but seek to increase the risk by provolving everthing that moves. Of course, it might simply be that the humans and their derived offshoots are despondent over their self-induced functional extinction, so that at some level they even welcome the existential threat.
