Maybe that's what's awaiting us.Or, perhaps they recognized the magnitude of those limits long before reaching them, and adjusted the growth rates for their civilization so they could be sustained within the limits, perhaps by focusing on increased efficiencies. As efficiencies improve, there is less "leakage" for other civilizations to detect, as well as a decreased need for megastructures to produce energy.
