The OAUP's Twitter presence
#1
I know the OAUP already has a twitter account (link) but I think it's largely underused. I think we could use twitter as a way to increase the visibility of the project by being more active on twitter, interacting in a fun way with other hard-SF accounts such as Tough SF (link) which does a pretty good job at this in my opinion, and also some hard-SF writers with a cool twitter such as Charlie Stross (link), John Scalzi (link) or James SA Corey (link).

I would suggest also tweeting a lot more about the new OA content (as well as key old articles), new or tweaked EG articles, new and old stories etc. Also perhaps commenting on science news and relating them to OA concepts etc.

Perhaps we could even discuss together what to post, what to comment on etc.

I was keeping the OAUP Twitter account up until a few years ago, but I decided to concentrate on Facebook, since there seems to be more scope for interaction there.

If another active member wanted to take over the OA Twitter account I'd be grateful (subject to discussion with the Board, of course).

Agreed on all points here.

Also agreed on making discussion and idea sharing on what to post a community activity.

I don't use Twitter and don't have the bandwidth to add it to my repertoire, but if we have members who are really into it and how to use it effectively and are interested in volunteering to play a role in this aspect of things, please 'raise your hand' and the Board can discuss it.

I would assume that it would be a job for a senior member. If no one feels motivated, then it will stay as it is. But I would argue that twitter could be a great avenue for increasing the OAUP's visibility in the wider current day human culture. And I would argue it is the way to go if making the OAUP an important feature of today's and tomorrow's wider science fiction landscape is an important feature of the project.

Also, I think it would be great to try and publish OA stories that are likely to appeal to a wide audience in other SF magazines and publications.
