Quark fusion - ai_vin - 11-09-2017 Anybody else hear of this? https://www.engadget.com/2017/11/07/bottom-quark-fusion-study-nuclear/ RE: Quark fusion - selden - 11-09-2017 Unfortunately, quarks don't exist on their own. Unlike fossil fuels, there's no primordial source which one could make use of. Quarks are obtained by splitting protons and neutrons, which requires the input of just as much (well, somewhat more, actually) energy as would be released when they're fused back together again. TANSTAAFL In principle, though, it should be possible to create and store quarks, just as it is possible to create and store antimatter. Either could be used to store energy for later release, but maintaining them in storage for any significant amount of time is extremely difficult when using our current (Y1K) technology.
