For really long-term archival data storage, I would prefer Hitachi's system, announced last September ( http://www.hitachi.com/New/cnews/120924.html ) that can store data for hundreds of millions of years and, as an added bonus, is independent of any particular operating system (it can be read with a suitable microscope).
