OA, O.A., Oa, oa and The OA - Avengium - 02-19-2017

Hi, i found that so many things are named OA too. What do you think of this fact? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OA (disambiguation).

I like the movies of Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij and i heard Netflix has a sci-fi series named the OA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_OA
is not related with Orions Arm but is curious the coincidence.

Something has watched this series on Netflix? Smile

There are, or have been, other entities named Orion's Arm, too. One ( an inconsequential space opera) existed in the early days of the project, and faded away without trace.

Another, unrelated Orion's Arm Future History can be found on Deviantart in the work of William Black, an excellent artist and enthusiast for realistic nuclear rockets.

I must admit I like William Black's work very much, although his use of Project Orion nuclear propulsion would require the mass production of nuclear weapons and might steer the course of history towards nuclear conflict. Black's science is so realistic it would fit in with OA seamlessly, perhaps as an alternate universe.

I started watching the first episode of this late last night. Not sure what I think of it yet.

Orions arm refers to a physical feature of the galaxy. It's unsurprising multiple franchises would adopt it as a name.

Technically we live in the Orion Arm (or Spur), rather than Orion's Arm, so the name is a little idiosyncratic. The Orion OB complex is probably the most prominent feature of our spur, so it is a reasonable name for this region; there may be other features along the length of the spur that are equally spectacular, but we can't see them as well because of intervening dust.
