well you're calling the very weird aliens "starfish aliens" so i'm guessing you've read this

which will certainly list many examples

if i had to pick a central theme for the OA setting, it would be "yes, there are aliens, and they are "starfish aliens", but the sophont beings descended from EARTH LIFE can be just as weird, or weirder, and that's what we're focused on"
