On NationStates I'm Oasisa. I copied the article for two reasons. First, since I want to roleplay as the First Federation, I have to post how the technology works to use it in rp for the sake of consistentcy. The second reason is that they are my favorite articles and it is often eaiser to find them on my own account than searching for them if I can't find or remember the bookmark. On all pages I use from OA I link to the original OA article to credit it and to help me find the page. I don't and can't make money from posting it, and I always credit the orignal article and link it back to OA. I just post it on NationStates as a reference for myself and roleplayers I play with. It's also a great place to meet role-players. Check it out! RE: Which age would you prefer to live in?- The information age or The Sundering? - QwertyYerty - 11-27-2016 I was actually looking for the article to quote it for the discussion so I looked for my NationStates (NS) dispatches and found the OA reference. For the sake of transparency I want to let you guys know that I use a lot of OA references to explain OA concepts on NS like transapients and Homo Superior since it helps the other roleplayers understand what I am talking about. Also, here is the Superior Genemod article posted on NS (link to original article on bottom of the dispatch). On NS we often use spoiler tags to condense large amonts of texts to make more readable posts. I find it helpful when scrolling through the article to divide it up by spoiler tags. In your thread it isn't clear that you were going to copy OA content and host it elsewhere, if you had mentioned that it would have likely got a response. 2) When using OA material you should credit it with a clear disclaimer at the start of every article. Like this: This material appropriated from the Orion's Arm Universe Project (http://www.orionsarm.com). Used with permission. 3) If you are going to adapt material you should make an effort to not harm the image of the site. For example: your Federation of OAsisa seems to have no relation to the first fed at all, despite having several copies of OA content as support material. This is problematic as someone reading your entry might ascribe it to us. A disclaimer may be needed to make it clear that this is inspired by OA, not endorsed by it. Ok, thank you. I will fix the dispatches or delete them. RE: Which age would you prefer to live in?- The information age or The Sundering? - QwertyYerty - 11-28-2016 I thought about it and just decided to delete them since I didn't get much use out of them anyways. |
