Mite
Major Terragen arachnid group. Most species are microscopic. There were believed to have been several million Terragen species, although many were lost with the ecocide of the Industrial, Atomic, and Information ages (it is likely GAIA either lazurogened these or created new similar ones in their place, to maintain the integrity of the restored ecosystems).

A large fraction of all terragen habitats and biospheres hospitable to baseline and near-baseline humans includes mites as an essential part of soil biota (often many millions in a cubic meter of topsoil). In most other cases, the soil contains an artificial replacement for mite populations, in the form of mitebots or other mesoscale soil components that perform the same function. See artificial soils for more details.

Mite domestication and provolution is a popular pastime among some diminutivist clades.
