Binerator
A megascale electrical engineering device built around the interstellar plasma flow between unequal size stars in a binary system. The hollow tube-like device uses the charged plasma particles flowing through it to produce electricity; the power generated can be considerable, especially where there is a significant mass-flow between the two stars and/or an accretion disk.
Several closely orbiting binary stars have binerator systems in place to produce power for computation, construction, life support and propulsion. One such binary pair near Sol is Algol, which uses the power generated by a binerator system to broadcast transmissions throughout the Orion Spur, as well as sending targeted messages towards distant galactic and extragalactic locations.
