The Kenehan-LeRiche complexes were at first communications and data storage units with some nanoimmune duties, but became prime real estate for federation AIs during the 1500's. More than ten million such complexes were built and placed in orbit around Jupiter, making it a dense computing nexus. The traditional modular design had cooling grids that tended to be encrusted by sulfur dust from the Io stream, giving them the nickname Goldenwings.
