Karol Zooeum of Heroes
The largest zooeum of its kind, the Karol Zooeum is set in vast parkland of the Karol Banks Ring, in orbit around Karol's Star.
This zooeum is home to tens of thousands of supersophonts who have voluntarily adopted the identity of various cultural heroes and superheroes from Terragen History. Rather than following this lifestyle in a simulation or virtual environment, they have decided to recreate the characteristics of various super-powered individuals in a real-life environment. Only a few are allowed to be active at any one time, for safety reasons; the zooeum they inhabit is inhabited by a small population of near-baseline modosophonts and tourists who might be endangered by the activities of a larger population of supersophonts.
Perennial favorites are Hercules, Hanuman, the Monkey King (both Old Earth and Penglai versions are in the Collection), Superman, the Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, The Karkus, Virtual Gurl, Dogboy, Borgon, and Metadolphin-3.
Because of the risk involved with their super strength, and in some cases (e.g. Wolverine, the Hulk, and Borgon) super-rage), these supers are constrained by strict safety regulations. However, it is believed that a number of pirated templates with no such constraints are circulating in the Outer Volumes and some feral regions.
